Most of them were determined to finish their studies in spite of financial problems. They are the people who always think of chances, opportunities to grab and overcoming impossibilities to succeed in life. They also live a life full of integrity and dignity .
I've witnessed how one of them struggled to walk every school day from Mt. Timolan to the national highway, to take a ride going to Tubod National High School. He always get a perfect score in his exams, even without electricity in the house while he was studying. Most of the time, he was using "sulo" or
"lamparilya". He was able to pass the CPA board exam and is now working as Finance Manager in a top corporation in New Zealand.
One of them was a "balut" vendor for four years. Studying in college with only Php50 weekly budget for school supplies and food, compared with his boardmate who has Php300 allowance, in addition to rice supply and canned goods. He is now working in a Global Accounting Services firm with the major task of processing accounting transactions of 20 countries.
Also, one them worked as "icer truck man" after he finished high School. Because of his strong determination to pursue his college studies, he decided to stop his work to be a working student in a school where he finished his degree in college. He is now working as Marketing Director in a Corporation in Metro Manila.
Most of them are working abroad: in US, Korea and New Zealand.
